UBCO blood-loss study looking for dark-skinned participants

The University of British Columbia Okanagan needs dark-skinned people to take part in a new blood loss research study that is already underway.

UBCO PhD student Connor Howe says “hitting our skin pigmentation targets has been an issue.”

Howe says the study is designed to test sensors, and software for their ability to determine when someone’s going to faint from blood loss.

The study is being conducted by Howe and UBCO Professor Philip Ainslie.

“We are looking for healthy volunteers with dark skin pigmentation, free from disease, between the ages of 18-65.
