UBC drone deliveries test possibilities for medicine

Drone operators have flown enough flights from the town of Fraser Lake over water to the nearby Stellat’en First Nation in northern British Columbia to cross a milestone in unlocking the potential of unmanned aircraft to make medical deliveries to remote communities.

The 500 flights they’ve made so far, part of a research project led by the University of B.C.’s faculty of medicine, have proven to Transport Canada that the aircraft are safe enough to be operated beyond the sight of an observer.
