First CARGA Primary Care Report Released

The province has released its first report on community-based primary care services as part of a B.C. Greens-NDP deal

The first report from the THE COOPERATION AND RESPONSIBLE GOVERNMENT ACCORD (CARGA) agreement has been released. The BC Rural Health Network is working with many other groups in analyzing this data and related information in regard to Community Health Centres and Primary Care Reform. The information released requires significant evaluation. Initial concerns involve the definitions of terms such as “team based care”, “attachment”, “primary care”, “community health centre”, as the definition of these terms within this report don’t necessarily align with the our definition of these terms or those of the community at large. The BCRHN is committed to working with all political parties and the public to create systems to provide meaningful improvements to the health and wellness of rural residents and ensuring that system design and policy meet the needs of all residents of the province.

Further comments will be provided once more feedback has been received from across BC.
